Goals and Tasks of the National Protective Service

The National Protective Service is an organisation performing internal crime prevention and detection duties with nationwide competence and headquarters in Budapest, which carries out its protective work by the legal authorisation of the Act 34 of 1994 on the Police regarding the law enforcement agencies, the civilian secret agencies, and the public administration agencies. Our Service — beside the agency for general police activities and the agency for counterterrorism together — is an independent part of the Hungarian Police, which is controlled by the Government via the minister in charge of law enforcement (the Minister of Interior).

Our goals have not changed: efficient fight against corruption and organised crime.
